Pittsburgh Hand Rejuvenation

Aside from the face and neck, hands are the most visible area of the body. They are often left unprotected from environmental elements and also often left out of our beauty regimen. Over time, hands develop harsh signs of aging including protruding veins, sun spots, age spots, freckles and wrinkles. Advanced Liposuction Center offers multiple hand rejuvenation treatment options including a range of effective high-end lasers, injectable fillers and cosmetic surgery to treat hands safely and effectively with very minimal to no down time.

All of the treatments are performed on an outpatient basis and some may be performed with local anesthesia. During your initial consultation, our experts will discuss your goals and desired outcomes. From there we will develop a personalized treatment plan and begin treatment to help reverse signs of aging.

This procedure is known as a Fat Transfer. Fat transfers to the hand are an effective, safe and simple procedure that provides patients with natural results that increase volume and plump sagging skin due to aging. Our team of experts first perform liposuction, which removes fat from your chosen area. The stored fat is then injected into your chosen improvement area.

Dermal Fillers - Juvéderm, Radiesse, Sculptra Aesthetic and others are available. You may opt for the instant results of Radiesse or choose the collagen stimulator Sculptra, which, over time, promotes your own collagen as the “filler.” While hyaluronbased injectable fillers (e.g., Restylane, Juvéderm) are extremely well tolerated, their effects are too shortterm on hands. Radiesse and Sculptra Aesthetic wear well in the hands and provide a cushion replacement, maintaining a soft, natural feel. This will add body and fix the sunken in appearance. Results typically last 13 years. Touchup treatments may be necessary to maintain desired correction.

Scar Removal/Fractional Skin Resurfacing - Treats sun spots and fine lines with the delivery of micro beams of light to form new, soft, healthy skin with reduced blemishes. These microbeams penetrate deep into the dermis for the most effective, longterm results possible. The heated tissue within the columns starts a natural healing process that forms new, healthy, youthful tissue. This results in a decrease of sun spots, fine lines, wrinkles, melasma, acne scarring and creates a fresher, more youthful skin tone and texture. The fractional nonablative laser stimulates quick healing, leaving your skin’s surface intact, with no lasting redness.

QSwitch technology - The most commonly used Qswitching lasers are the QSwitch Nd YAG, the Qswitched Ruby and the Qswitch Alexandrite (such as our Medlight C4, C6 or other units.) Extremely short pulses of high intensity light enables the laser to accurately target and dissolve the microscopic granules of color and deliver a refreshed, more youthful appearance by simultaneously treating multiple skin conditions and by boosting the natural collagen production deep within the dermis.

Sclerotherapy - First developed in the 1920s, this treatment remains a favorite of many patients. Microdermabrasion - A superficial skinpolishing treatment that improves the appearance of aging skin. The results are immediate. Microdermabrasion is noninvasive (known as the lunchtime peel.) Your skin will have a fresh glow and will look healthier, smoother and more youthful. Your improvement will continue throughout your series of treatments. The procedure removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells to reveal the fresher, younger cells beneath the skin. Your aesthetic specialist will select the proper solution (glycolic acid, Jessner, TCA or trichloroacetic acid or carbolic acid) and apply the topical to various areas of skin. Peels are available in a variety of forms that can be used to produce a separation and peeling of the outer layers of the skin. The new skin is smooth and practically blemishfree, with reduced fine lines, wrinkles, spots and sun damage.

Tattoo Removal - Medical lasers called Q switch lasers use an intense beam of light to significantly lighten or completely remove the tattoo. There are different wavelengths of light to treat different colors of ink. The ink particles of the tattoo absorb the light from the laser. Then we break them up into tiny fragments. The body’s lymphatic system then absorbs these fragments.  Afterwards we naturally absorb them into our bodies and carry them away. This cleansing process generally takes 6-8 weeks. Larger ink particles may require multiple treatments. We also have other methods of tattoo removal available, depending on the individual’s preference.

Who is a good candidate for  hand rejuvenation treatment?

Anyone seeking to improve the quality of aging skin on the hands is a candidate for hand rejuvenation. If you would like to have tighter, smoother, more even-toned hands, consider these treatment options. Cosmetic surgery is designed to help the improvement of the skin’s appearance, not to perfect it. Patients should be made aware they should have realistic goals and expectations of their skin. Be sure to discuss this with the doctor or technician during your consult.

How can I prepare for hand rejuvenation treatments?

During your consultation, we will discuss your goals and desired outcomes This will include treatment options, pre and post care, and we will answer your questions. Patients who are receiving dermal fillers or fat injections should avoid drinking alcohol, taking multivitamins, aspirin, ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E and other blood thinners for one week prior to treatment. This will decrease the risk of bruising.

What should I expect during hand rejuvenation treatment?

These treatments are done at all of our Western PA offices. The length of the procedure may vary, depending on which treatments. Broad Band Light (BBL) will take less than 30 minutes to complete. Minor treatments with dermal fillers take about one hour. Fat Transplantation may take between 23 hours. Topical or local numbing is used for some of the hand rejuvenation treatments.

Is there any discomfort with the treatments?

No anesthesia is required for laser treatments. Fillers are formulated with a local anesthetic. Pain is minimal. The laser treatments feel like a warm rubber band snapping. The area treated may feel warm for a few hours afterwards. Procedures are quick, minimally invasive and require no downtime.

How does fractional skin resurfacing work?

Laser skin resurfacing can correct deep wrinkles, skin pigmentation, improve skin’s texture and stimulate new collagen growth for more youthful skin. Small microscopic columns of coagulated skin are vaporized and removed (leaving healthy tissue surrounding it). This forces new skin to replace the old damaged skin, leaving a more youthful appearance. By treating a fraction of the treated area., it minimizes the healing time leaving skin young and healthy, improving the skin’s firmness and elasticity.

How do injectable fillers work?

Injectable fillers are a precise procedure injected by a syringe that must be done carefully to be successful. Your administrator will determine exactly where to administer a few tiny injections to achieve the best results. Dermal fillers are structured to replace the lost volume under the skin adding a more full youthful look. The filler material is injected directly into the wrinkle line or furrow you would like to elevate. With a fat transfer, fat from another area of the patient’s body is harvested, processed, and reinjected into the patient’s hands the same way synthetic fillers are done.

Sun rays can cause skin inflammation and cause hyperpigmentation of skin, especially if you recently got hand rejuvenation, your skin is new and weak, so it’s easy for it to get damaged and pigmented.
